Dr. Seuss

For this project we were supposed to make an image based off of one of Dr. Seuss's books. Loki and I chose to make and image based off The Lorax, one of my all time favorite books. We wanted to keep the original integrity of the cover, with just a few tweaks to make it our own. We changed some of the wording on it and added a few filters. I think we both liked this project a lot because it involved a topic that we were more interested in than most.

LIFE Magazine critique

I believe this particular cover for LIFE Magazine to be one of their worsts. It is not very catching to the eye and it doesn't look very well done. It certainly doesn't look like a photoshop professional created this.  These kids don't look like they're even in those armor suits. Even if a person found this image creative and catching, they wouldn't appreciate the topic of hundred dollar armor for six year olds. Maybe the article inside can justify the cover, but without reading the article, it's not very appealing.

Kaleidoscope

This is a project that I took and played with it for a little while. I made the kaleidoscope project using a picture of some roses I took a while ago. After I made the actual kaleidoscope part, I played with some different tools and effects to change it around a bit. I found something called curves which can make your image lighter or darker. I made this one darker and it isolated the flowers and kept them light. I think it made it look especially cool and interesting to look at.

Collage

This is something I've just been messing around with in Photoshop. I really liked my picture of the roses, so I made it the object of interest by making it in color while everything else is in black and white.

Flyer

I created this flyer for the Rowing club's annual flea market coming up. They already had a flyer created that I looked at. I decided to take that flyer and spice it up a bit and add some better bits and pieces to it. I used the gradient tool for the backdrop and I put a filter on my main text at the top.

Arcimboldo Assignment

For this assignment we were inspired by the work of Guiseppe Arcimboldo who worked with painting different objects together to make a face or body. I used a lot of different fruits to make a face. I made him with eyes, eyebrows, a nose, mouth, hair, earrings (even though it's a man) and spikey hair.

Portfolio

This project we made to summarize some of our best work into a portfolio that would be more professional than this blog. We needed to use our skills we have learned so far to make it look nice.

Color Wheels

For these projects, we focused on learning how to use photo filters and the Gradient tool. We also practiced the principals of designs which we learned a while back. These are my two, one that I took a picture of every letter of the alphabet from our senior patio and put it into a photoshop document and put the stencil on top of it to appear like I used the type mask tool. My second picture I took pictures of different objects (shirts, walls, fliers, etc.) and altered them to fit into the rainbow stencil I chose.
